About us 

Our unit was established under the name of Erciyes University Disabled Student Unit in 2008 in accordance with the Regulation on Higher Education Institutions Counseling and Coordination for the Disabled, which was published in the Official Gazette dated 20 June 2006 and numbered 26204. In June 2013, the name of the unit was changed, and since then it has been continuing its activities as Erciyes University Barrier-free Campus Unit (Barrier-free ERU). The Unit is in service in order to determine the academic, administrative, physical, psychological, accommodation and social needs of students with special needs at Erciyes University, university staff and all other individuals with special needs who have contact with the campus, to plan, implement and develop the actions that need to be handled and to evaluate the results of these actions. We are continuously in communication and take joint action with the relevant faculty administrations and academic staff members regarding the full participation of the students with special needs in educational activities, exams and course applications. For this purpose, there is a student representative for each academic department in our university. It is entirely the student's decision whether to notify the Erciyes University Barrier-free Campus Unit of the disability or not. Even so, our unit will try to identify students with special needs and try to eliminate the barriers that they may encounter in their academic and social lives.
