Our University's Barrier-Free Campus Unit and ERU Conscious Youth Club organized the event “Not One Day, Every Day, 3 December” in cooperation with Abdullah Gül University, Nuh Naci Yazgan University and Kayseri University. The event held at Erciyes Cultural Center was attended by CHP Kayseri Deputy Cetin Arık, Vice Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sıtkı İlkay, representatives of political parties, academics and students attended. Speaking at the opening of the event, Accessible Campus Unit Coordinator Dr. Instructor Member Mehmet Emin Öztürk and Assistant Coordinator, Conscious Youth Club Advisor Lect. See. Nimet Susam gave information about the event. Our University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. In his speech, Mehmet Sıtkı İlkay said, “The most obvious reflection of the value given to people is the value given to the disabled and the facilities provided to them. In all areas of life; Despite all the difficulties in education, art, literature, politics, sports, civil society and business world, we see the struggle of our disabled brothers and their achievements in every field. Our most important duty in this struggle is to support their beliefs and their firm commitment to life.” Underlining that they are closely interested in the problems of students with disabilities, Vice-Chancellor İlkay said: “As a requirement of a barrier-free campus, it is our most important duty to enable our disabled students to benefit from education, health, transportation and services effectively and to ensure their active participation in social and cultural activities. Dealing closely with the problems of our students with disabilities and making efforts to produce permanent solutions is not only a matter of concern to the disabled and their families, but it is the responsibility of all of us as a society. Our university does not see disability as a defect that limits education and social life, and always values and supports our students with disabilities. In this context, our University's Accessible Campus Unit pays close attention to both our disabled personnel and our students with disabilities, and supports their demands and requests within the framework of possibilities. As Erciyes University, we carry out various studies to provide more secure and peaceful living conditions for our disabled individuals on campus. Since the day we took office, we continue to make necessary arrangements and improvements in many areas, especially in our faculties, in order to improve the access of our disabled people to places, education and social-cultural activities. Within the scope of YÖK Barrier-Free Flag Awards, many of our education units have received Barrier-Free Flag Awards and this number is increasing every year.” The last speaker of the event, CHP Kayseri Deputy Çetin Arık, drew attention to the importance of the event in his speech. Arık said, “These kinds of events are very important. I hope that better things will happen for our special needs brothers and sisters and their families.” After the opening speeches, the event continued with a panel, theatrical performance and a concert.
